Bazzil cardstock; Kromekote cs for center bg
Hero Arts stamps
Distress Inks
Mega Nestabilities Curved Rectangles

This card was a comedy of errors.
1. I was showing someone how to do Tim Holtz's Wrinkle-Free Watercolor Technique, and for the first time it didn't work. The colors didn't stay true, and the ink didn't wick. Maybe I didn't use enough ink or water; maybe there was a soap residue on the craft mat. I don't know what went wrong, but I knew this piece was a throw-away. I think I used Shabby Shutters and Weathered Wood distress inks for the watercolor technique. Last night I stamped this background with a HA leaf bg stamp, and it began to look better.

2. I cleaned my craft mat with alcohol after reading a tip from someone here at Two Peas. I used plenty of ink and water to make the yellow watercolor background (scattered straw, mustard seed, and spiced marmalade inks). I stamped the HA flowers with Pine Needles and heat embossed them with Ranger's Verdigris EP. It didn't stick. Maybe I didn't work fast enough. Last night I cut out the flowers and heat embossed the entire surface with 3-4 coats of Ranger's Clear Embossing Powder. (I love Jennifer's tip about using her “fork” to hold the flowers.)

3. I attached the light green bg to the dk green card, and it looked so blah. Remember, that background was a throw-away. I put the whole thing in my Cuttlebug and cut/embossed it with the die mentioned above. It went through both layers without a problem. The bonus was that I now had a border I could use inside the card to frame the sentiment. I used the back of the original card to cut/emboss the matting. I was lucky enough to find another cardstock that worked well with these colors–Bazzill dark spruce. It has a columnar texture I like too.

Thank you for looking at my card made with throw-away pieces. Jennifer, thank you for this terrific series of classes. Daria
