I've been meaning to photograph my scraproom for quite a while but never seemed to get around to it. But, I've just finished a huge purge and my camera was handy so I thought I'd post my pics. It's a spare bedroom overlooking the backyard so there's lots of natural light. I designed it to be galley style … cabinets lining two opposing walls with a large butcher block table in the center of the room. There's plenty of room for friends and little granddaughters to scrap with me! 1. This is the view from the hallway showing my heavy scraptable and eclectic chairs. 2. This wall is my computer station and cabinets hold magazines, craft books, photo paper, and miscellaneous photo boxes. 3. On the window wall is a long counter top. In on end the counter is routed so that when I use my paper trimmer the scraps can just be dropped into the drawer below. Then, when full, all I have to do is empty the drawer. 4. Lots of storage in 4 lateral file drawers. I store my sticker letters, flat embellishments, rub-ons, etc. in file folders in these drawers. Also, one drawer works to hold 81/2 x 11 cardstock filed according to color. 5. This drawer holds the tools I use most often. There's a tool caddy on my scrap table with ruler, tweezers, scissors … stuff that I use all the time. This drawer is the ‘back up’ supply drawer. 6. At the end of the counter is a shelf unit that has tin file boxes from IKEA. They are labled Tools, Adhesives, Scissors, Glue Guns, Game Pieces, …. stuff like that. Cardstock is stored vertically. The double tiered craft bin holds eyelets, buttons, charms, brads, all separated by color. 7. This funky antique shelf unit holds stamps. Underneath there are 2 spice racks for craft paint. Flanking each side is my new Pottery Barn wall unit and shelves. 8. On the computer wall is a full height cabinet. Patterned paper is sorted by color and stored in my old 12x12 paper racks. Larger embellishements and craft items are in plastic bins below. The top of the cabinet holds 2 lazy susans with various liquids … Mod Podge, PVA, Rit dye, Gesso, Crackle Medium … stuff like that. 9. Prima flowers and ribbons are sorted by color and stored in glass containers from IKEA. 10. The former bedroom has a closet with mirror doors. I keep my scraps in a file system in the blue plastic tub. Unfinished projects (works in progress) are stored in Cropper Hopper sleeves and kept in the red bin. There's way too many of these! UGH. 11. I was thrilled when a local Osco drug store closed and had a fixture sale. For $10 I picked up this section of slotwall and the pegs for it. I put my most recent purchases there. Next to it is a metal bulletin board from IKEA with a few pics of the family. Also, the wall hung gumball machine for the little girls. It really holds gum and they love turning the knob to see what color they get! 12. Throught the room I have quotes referring to creativity. This one, above the closet, says ‘Coffee is creative lighter fluid.’ and my sister gave me this darling altered clock for Christmas. Other phrases include: Good taste is the enemy of creativeness - Picasso, If I create from the heart nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing. - Marc Chagall, To create you need a good imagination and a pile of stuff. - Benjamin Franklin 13. The flowers on the wall are actually Wallies from Trading Spaces. I loved the colors and the scale of them … it's just the right amount of accent. Well, the purge feels good …. now I think I'll scrap something! TFL!!
