Oh my, let me be the first to congratulate you and your husband on your new home! What an awesome time in your lives, and sounds like a just deserved time in your lives too! You did your homework and you bought! Yeah for you! I am very happy for you!
Looks lovely too!
Welcome home! Great layout - I love the shabby wallpaper with the hanging pictures! I love the pocket idea! I've moved a few times too, and fixed up a few houses along the way - this is such a great way to do "before" & "after" pictures. Might have to scraplift!
I absolutely adore this layout! You are so creative for putting it together like this! The top is my favorite part of all. :) congrats on buying your first home!
We have been together almost 8 years, married 6 years, moved 7 times, have a two year old, and now we can cross home ownership off the list! I think we started looking at houses when we first got together. DH and I are very "handy" people. Actually, being able to use a measuring tape and table saw was one of my requirements in "the man I would marry" list. And once I saw that we could work well together, when we installed the new floors and beadboard in his mothers house...I knew I loved him.
So the stats on this house: -3 bedrooms, 2 baths, & a 2 car garage -1,600 square feet AKA: Not too much to clean, but still big enough to entertain. -Open floor plan. I love that I can be with my family at all times, even if we are doing seperate things. -Corner lot...still needs a fence for privacy/safety, but at least there is a lot of open space. -Built in 1979 and owned by the original owner the whole time! (very well maintained) -Block construction, Hurricane shutters, lightning rods, and a new roof...this house is ready for the next big storm to hit FL. -New windows & toilets...gotta love energy efficiency -THE BEST PART OF ALL: The hosue is a blank slate. Its a great old house and now we can update it and make it into our own. Its exactly what we wanted.
I wanted to make this LO look like an old house. Wall paper peeling off in layers, pictures hanging, and lots of distressing and fading in the stitching. Even though our house was not in the condition that I am referencing...maybe some day it will. DH and I will make lots of changes and improvements...and we will live our live here. Stories will be saved in these walls. Thats why I added the journaling and more pictures into the pocket I made. I wanted to show the house exactly as it was before we moved in. Those picture are actually from the MLS listing! Since then we have already gutted the fire place and added a library. Check out these origionals, because house updates will be scrapped and posted shortly. TFL
