Hard work, but good to take care of your parents that way! I grew up heating with wood. We had some very cold mornings in Vermont when the fire had died down overnight. Ugh.
Wow, a lot of work. Occasionally we can smell someone in the neighborhood burning wood and mostly, it smells good. Funny when you can tell they are burning icky wood vs. good smelling stuff
Got my parents some wood moved to their carport and stacked so they can use their wood-burning stove this winter. That stack is 6 feet tall, 8+ feet long, and is four rows deep. The wood is about 10 to 14 inches long. Part of it is still wet but it will dry and they can mix it in with dry wood. Then after we did this, in one day! we chopped, sawed, and moved the big pieces under the huge tarp to dry for next winter.
