We painted everything with black gesso. Then we added Finnabair Sculpture medium to the gesso and dipped our cotton fabric into it until it was saturated. Then we draped the fabric across our frame so that the piece still had an element of movement. It didn't take long for the fabric to start to harden. It did take about 12 to 24 hours for it to fully set.
