Yeah, I don't recomend you vist SD in the winter. Nothing is open. And the things that are are much prettier in the summer. Fantastic pictures!! I love the red!
Journaling: Crazy Horse; This was probably Katie's favorite part of the trip. She absolutely had to go. Paul and I honestly weren't so sure. We had heard mixed reviews. When we got there, it was cold and damp and on the verge of wet snow. The food vendors were all shut down for what looked to be the rest of the season. And the huge, white replica that was best seen when placed in front of the mountain was pulled into its shelter for the day. Even so, the sites we did see were very impressive. Of course, the carving itself was the most striking feature. But there was also the Indian Museum of North America. It was chock full of history and art. Plus, there was the Native American Cultural Center which featured a few artisans and their crafts. And finally, there was a display of the original carver's (Korczak Ziolkowski) studio with his history and other pieces of his own art. All in all, the place was well worth the price of admission (whatever that was). (Only the first two paragraphs.)
