This is the third time in my life I have witnessed the end of a rainbow. I couldn't believe it happened the first time. I was in my 30's and had run to the grocery store on a Sunday afternoon. One the way home I noticed a rainbow and it loosed so close, I decided to see if I could find the end. Every time I turned, it looked like it would be another block, and then there it was, in the middle of a grocery store parking lot. The parking lot was full of shoppers, as well as others who followed the rainbow to its end. I discovered I could get up close, but when I walked through it, I couldn't see it. Then when I got to the other side and look back - it was behind me. I walked through it several times.

The second time was about 10 years ago on Hickam Air Force Base - now Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. we were standing in the RV storage lot at the edge of the airfield after a light rain. Just a tiny ways from us was a Russian plane - a huge plane with the body of one of our C-5's only a couple feet longer. The plane was completely white and the rainbow touched the ground between us and the white plane. I got several pictures and figured that would be the last time I would ever see the end of the rainbow.

Two or three days ago we were driving around Tahiti and stopped at a little piece of the bay. This was the brightest I've ever seen a rainbow touch the ground and it touch the water and made a reflection in the water. I called my husband over so we could have our picture made with the rainbow behind us but it vanished to quickly and the picture of us only has the vaguest hint that a rainbow had been there.
