No matter what struggles or challenges my parents were going through, they never missed a beat when it came to the holidays. I have nothing but happy memories of us decorating the tree, baking, sledding with my dad, watching all of the Christmas classics, delicious dinners, dressing up with mom, dads hot chocolate (from real cocoa) with marshmallows (of course!), mom and me wrapping presents, etc.

The photo, which I had to steal from my parents album so I could get my layout done for the Bakers Dozen challenge, was taken in Dec of 1969 so I would have been 3. Now, as an adult, I know how tight money was at that time with my parents barely scraping by (and that lovely house with the fireplace? My parents were working as caretakers of the mansion while the owners were living in the city (NY).

Photographing white on white when tired is a challenge. Its hard to tell but the snowflakes are embossed on white paper with various colors of metallic water colors spattered on top.
