I had some scraps from die cutting squares and frames for some other cards I made. I've been hanging on to these papers for over a year! I decided to use them to create a background that I could use on my cards.
What you see above is the result.
How I did it:
I started with a blank white piece of cardstock (~200gsm).
I got all my squares together and, using liquid glue, adhered them one at a time to the cardstock.
These were from patterned paper waste.
I trimmed the edges of the cardstock and then used the trimmings to apply more papers to the card.
I used mica sprays in green and pink.
I used Silk (Sage, gold and Beach Ball) from Spellbinders.
This comes in a nail polish bottle with the brush in the lid. The colors also have mica in them.
I applied by shaking up the bottle, removing the lid with brush and randomly splattering the dye (?) on my background.
I realized afterwards it probably would have been good to use the sprays first and then adhere the papers.
I created my card:
I started with a standard A2 card base ( 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches) made with white cardstock.
I layered some blue cardstock onto my card.
I cut down the background to 4 x 5 1/4 inches and adhered to my card.
I added a focal and a sentiment, and added some Tonic Studios Crystal Drops in metallic pink.
