The story behind the skirt:
When Mama & Daddy were young, they were invited to a costume party. One of their favorite comic strips was Snuffy Smith, so, they decided to go as Snuffy Smith and his wife Louisa (or Weezy, as Snuffy called her). Mama dressed as Snuffy and Daddy dressed as Weezy. Mama made a huge skirt and kerchief for Daddy to wear. The story goes that their dog did not recognize Daddy dressed as Weezy and bit him. That little tidbit even made the small town newspaper! Mama held on to most things, as most people did who grew up during the Great Depression. One day, while rummaging through some of Mamas old fabric stash, Sarah and I found the skirt and kerchief that Mama had saved. Sarah fell in love with the vintage skirt fabric and Mama let her have it to cut down and make a skirt for herself. Here she is modeling her creation. How I wish we had photos of Mama and Daddy from that infamous night out I can only imagine :)
Photos of Sarah were taken in June 2011

The pps for these pages came from Basic Grey's Urban Prairie collection and their Lemonade Collection. The teal ladybug/flower felt border and the hot pink ribbon are really old - from my stash. The letters are a mix of stickers, some by Basic Grey and some by Doodle Bug. I found the "Snuffy Smith" book online and printed it out. The punched border beside the photo on the left hand page is by Martha Stewart - Five Wild Flower Border punch. To see both pages together, scroll to the third pic. Thanks so much for stopping by :)
