Oh my gosh, she is amazing. I love the vibrant colors and she picked a great artist to highlight. The weaving you did was perfect on this. How creative you are.
I can't love this enough! I've never seen her work in person but I adore it! As an art teacher her process is fascinating! Pretty awesome to see someone appreciating her work.
You did an amazing job on this LO!!! I love how you mimicked the plaid in the quilt by weaving your papers!! What an incredible job with this and what an amazing quilter!
This is one of my scrapbook pages in my I Love Collection. The handwritten journaling says I love the New Jersey born, Howard educated fiber artist named Bisa Butler. She sews nearly life-size people into quilts. She is a storyteller that uses African fabrics as her medium to weave the beautifully, intricate, texturally complex stories of every day people and their (our) histories into sew beautiful pieces of art for the world to see.
There is secret journaling attached to the blue By Bisa Butler tab that says This quilt by Bisa is in the likeness of the young Frederick Douglass. He was a slave who escaped from slavery and became one of the most famous intellectuals of his time. He is known for becoming a prominent anti-slavery activist, author and public speaker. Students of history reflect on his famous speech What to the Slave is the Fourth of July.
I scrapbooked this page for the following November 2022 challenges: 1. Journaling cat 2 (50+ words), cat 5 (hidden) and cat 6 (handwritten). 2. Spotlight on layouts 3. Volume 4. Boy only 5. Bakers Dozen (washi, ephemera, abundance of strips of paper, ribbon, enamel dots, tags, hearts (3), angel wings, new item (scissors), key, tape, the color umber and a leaf (on the brown fabric at bottom). 6. Daily inspiration (day 14- world diabetes day using ribbon, blue and red).
