At least this one isn't late! It's a month early! I do have to make two more February cards, though, and I think I will probably keep with this theme a little bit, as I have enough town houses in various rainbow colors already cut. Taxes MUST be done first, though, so I'd best get busy.

This card idea came about after I acquired an art piece by a good friend of mine. It is a city built on the back of a cat. He's custom created a couple of pieces for me, but his piece was a limited edition he created, and when I saw one for sale, I snatched it up. It had a lot of meaning behind it for him, and I really wanted it. My card is kind of a reversal of his concept. Of course, this card is for his birthday (I don't think he'll see it here).

There is so much "oooh, shiny!" on this one. Everything on the card front sparkles. Everything. I started with very pale pastel colored cardstocks in rainbow colors, and then sprayed them liberally with Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stains, along with the holiday mica sprays for the shimmer. I used just about every color I had on hand at the time, and the pastels turned into what is seen here, more bright jewel tones. Of course, I had to mount all the die cuts from these papers to an extra sparkly specialty paper, hah.

I spritzed the kitties with a homemade sparkle mist. It doesn't show up in my picture, but they are also sparkly in person, just a little bit more subtle than everything around them.

The city die cuts are from two different die sets mixed together.

Inside, I didn't line up my sentiment stamps well, but my friend will still know how to "read between the lines." The background isn't really as busy as it looks in the photo. The end of 2022 wasn't kind to him either, so I used a stamp set from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous as a background stamp of encouraging thoughts.

Stampin' Up! supplies: So Saffron, Pale Papaya, Pink Flamingo, Highland Heather, Pacific Point, Balmy Blue, and Granny Apple Green cardstocks; Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight (ret.) ink pads; Peaceful Moments stamp set.
