Hi There! Upcycled paper is my favorite thing to make junk journal inserts from. This insert is made from a large envelope that came in the mail and some book page. Its both a useful and decorative addition to my junk journal.
Started with a large white envelope cut down to the width of the book page I plan to use and just a bit shorter than the height of the page it will adorn. When cutting the envelope be sure to leave a corner of the envelope (two connecting sides) uncut. This will allow you to slip it over the corner of the page.
Next I covered the printed side of the envelope with book page, then inked the edges.
I want the top tag to be longer than the width of the book page forming the pocket, so I only glued the sides of the book page to the foundation. The next pocket will keep the tag in place, so no worries about it slipping too low.
Added two more pockets using book page, but this time I glued three sides of each page to form the bottom two pockets.
Decided to keep the tags simple, so I cut cream cardstock to size, then ran the tags through my Sizzix machine using an embossing folders. A bit of ink helps the raised images standout, plus adds a weathered look.
Finally, I added a scrap of pattern paper and a sticker to dress up the look. This envelope corner pocket will stay in place on its own, but to be sure it doesnt slip I decided to secure it with a fancy paperclip.
The other side is solid white, so I decided to make use of it as writing space. Added a border sticker from the collection to fancy it up a bit.
The envelope corner pocket is open on two sides, so it slips over the page and can be easily removed to allow the user to read the story of the Little Mermaid.
