Hi There! Some photos, like these paddling photos, look best on a horizontal layout. There are strong horizontal lines in the photos, so continuing that look on my scrapbook layout made sense.
I selected the wavy striped paper, because it echoes the water in my photos. Used a leaf pattern for the top as it is representative of the tress in my pictures.
There are several different ratios that work well, but I used a 5:7 one, which is one of my favorites. Cutting one sheet of paper to 7 inches and the other to 5 inches is a less formal look than the symmetric 6 inches each.
You can choose to cut only one sheet to 5 inches, then attach it to the bottom of the other piece of scrapbook paper, but I chose to piece mine onto a sheet of thin white scrapbook paper. Doing it that way I have enough pattern paper left to create another layout.
Next I added a couple of border strips from the sticker sheet over the seam. I usually print my photos with a white border, so adding a single scrap paper mat gives a double mat look.
Finally I added lots of embellishments in a diagonal fashion to complete the layout.
