This is the front side of a pocket page with details and pics from the time our cars were hit by a tree due to a tornado in Ladson, SC back on May 25, 1970. The journaling on the back side (second page here) says:

In 1970 we lived in Ladson, South Carolina. Daddy was working at the Charleston airport with Eastern Air Lines. On May 25th, he came in from work and the weather was getting pretty rough. He thought he should go get a flashlight that was in the pocket of his Volkswagen.
He had barely shut the back door, coming back in, when we heard the tree crash onto our two cars. We were so blessed that he didnt wait even a minute longer to go out to get that flashlight.
These photos depict the aftermath from the tornado. We had two squished cars, especially Daddys VW, but no damage to the house. We also had a tree down in our back yard on top of the chain link fence. Thankfully, cars and fences can be repaired or replaced, but Daddys can not.
The main things I remember about that day are the loud roar (like a freight train) going over our house and Karen screaming hysterically during the storm.

The little wood slices were fussy cut from Echo Parks Little Lumber Jack pp. I used Simple Stories The Simple Life and Vintage Weathered Garden collections for the other pps and embellies. Thanks so much for stopping by :)
