Nora and I were playing with her new die set, and Nora helped me choose the colors of the floss on the first two cards. This is a fun card to stitch. I liked the way the first and third cards large center flowers are stitched, but I couldn't find directions on how to do it. I saw a card on Pinterest and used that as an example. Looked easy. What I came out with is what you see on the second card here. Nice, but not what I was planning.
Ill try to explain how I did it. You can start anywhere, but I started on one of the short lines. For the second card, I brought the needle from the back to the front at the top of the line. Then I brought it down to the hole to the right of the line to make the first stitch. Then I went straight up the new line (the needle is at the back of the card) and brought to the front directly above where I had put it in. Then it went back down to one over to the right. I repeated this all the way around, repeating over, straight up, over, straight up). When I came to the end, I kept going in the same direction to finish the rest of the lines and ended up with what you see on the green flower.
Back to the drawing board. I repeated the first round the same way as the first time. Stitch one row over, then go straight up, stitch the next hole, etc. When I came to the end, instead of going in the same direction, I reversed directions. On the first stitch back, I skipped one hole to cross over the prior stitch and then continued around doing the same thing as before but in reverse. My new mantra was cross over, straight up, cross over, straight up.
That is probably clear as mud, but its the best I can do to describe the process. I saw a couple of cards with this stitch, but I couldn't find a video explaining it.
