(Sigh.) I can relate. I would love to do something similar for mine. Thanks for the idea. I actually thought of doing "Promise," too, but the bittersweetness of it made me shy away. You showed me how you can make it work. I love the flair to your writing, the pp, and the hidden strips. Just one suggestion: the tucked-in photo did strike me at first glance. I'm for the untucking.
This such a wonderful LO. It is so full of passion, openess. The pp is great and I love the torn paper. I like that all the lettering was done by hand, it makes it so personable. Like others said, I like all the symbolism.
Angela, this is a beautiful LO. Agree with what most of what has been said. However, I have to tell you, I can totally live with the photo being tucked. For some reason, I am seeing the symbolism of uncovering layers of the relationship, you know, like layers of an onion. I tend to always look for symbolism, even when it is unintentional. With all of the hearfelt journaling, this LO will be a very special one for you and your DH and for your whole family, in fact. Super job!
The sentiment here is so beautiful - you could have written it on a napkin and it would still be wonderful. I like how you mixed the different purple papers - very nice.
I love this LO. The journaling and doodling is awesome! I also think you should untuck the photo, and maybe mat another black behind the white. I really like the journaling tucked in. Hes going to love this!
I love the meaning of this whole LO. Love the pp and the doodles on the corners of the picture. I would definitely untuck the left side of the pic and then doodle on the left side like you did the right. love all the torn pp.
This is beautiful, & the sentiment moving! I love the torn PP and the "pocket" for the "didnt know's". I also agree that the right side should be "un-tucked" but other than that, great job!
I'm with Moi! What a tear-jerker! I also agree with Moi about the matting. Even though there is black in the tux, I think you should finish off with this around your picture to counter the white mat. I love all of the hand-work on here. It's so much more personal with all of your own writing and artwork!
Wow... that is inspiring and tear jerking journaling! So sweet and honest - sooooo true! Are you trying to cover something on the left hand side of the photo? I think it would look great matted with black, maybe even double matted with an inside torn edge to match.
The Happenzz Girlz Week 12 Challenge is to pick my favourite word and scrap it. This took a lot of thought for me but "promise" is what I chose. "Promise" has more meaning to me than "love" or other similar words because it has truly multiple meanings and levels to it. This is a bittersweet reflection on "promise" with the journaling saying "What We Said Then....love you, honour you, cherish you, in sickness, in health...That was Then and here is What We Didn't Know Yet". The pull-out tags in the paper pocket read: "That 'love' is a marathon of perserverance", "That honour meant 'I'm sorry' after the screaming", "That 'cherish' was every moment, every day, no matter what", "That 'in sickness' meant Abigail", and "That we would love our children more than air". This will be a page in my 10th anniversary album...secret present for my husband.
