SHCG: Janet, I cannot say enough that I love tha basic grey patterned paper. It is so perfect here! I agree with the others about having the words face the same direction. Just one of those things that jumps out at me. Your inking around all of the elements really adds depth to this layout. Super job. You are totally motivating to take on my Christmas stuff before I have more to scrap. :-)
SHCG: Beautiful two page layout. That picture of your grandfather looking at the calendar cracks me up. My suggestions on this page would be to put a matte behind your journaling and maybe to put one of those astericks in the corner of the journaling block. I would also scoot the holiday letters closer together and leave some blank space on either side. I like how you have the "family" letters staggered and think that would look pretty cool using the "holidays" letters. Beautiful Christmas page!
SHCG: There's that great pp again. I really like the rounded corners and the inking, the two big pp rectangles on the left page against a solid cs, and then one pp rectangle against a pp bg on the right. That pic of Grandpa and the swimsuit calendar is absolutely priceless! :D I'm with Lisa on making the sideways text facing the same direction. Also, her comment about the one photo block looking like a present gave me the idea to suggest you add another one of those hearts coming out from the top center of that block. It'll look like a bow and create a visual triangle with the other two hearts you've already placed. That said, I think another one of those asterisks underneath the family arch would serve the same purpose. Adding these two embellies will also fill in a little of that white space between family and the photo block. Finally, I think the starkness of the white mats could use a thin, olive green inking along the edges.
SHCG - EXCELLENT LO! I love your use/placement of multi-pics & the overall loving, festive family feel you captured here. The pp is fabulous, great layering. Love the journaling & rounded corners too. I see Lisa's point about the vertical writing & having to turn different directions to read it...when I do vertical words (or vertical photos in those albums that hold 4x6 pics) I tend to place vertical items so that the center is the bottom line (i.e. stuff on the left placed opposite from the way you have "presents," stuff on the right place like you have "memories," basically the top edges of each side are the outer edges, hope that makes sense!). THAT'S what tends to work for me, totally fine if it doesn't for you, but I DO like Lisa's idea of having the sideways text in one direction for easier viewing. But, overall this is an awesome LO, absolutely love it!
SHCG: Great two page layout. The colors and the placement of the photos is perfect. The four little photos in a box almost looks like a present you could put a bow on top. And very cool including pictures of the dogs. I not sure if the words are suppose to flow in some order, at first I thought it read, Family presents...as in presentation, but now I think it must be presents as in gifts. just one more thought... making all of the sideways text in the same direction makes it easier to read. The user rotates the page 90 degrees to read; presents, memories, holiday Instead of rotating one way for some words and the other way for others.
Janet, love this 2 pager. I'm saving to my faves. I still have a few more holiday pics that I've been wanting to scrap but was just coming up with well...nothing. Hope you don't mind me "borrowing" this for some inspiration!!
I know it is traditional red and green, but the way you used these great pps looks FAB together. Love the squares of pics at the bottom too. And you didn't forget the pups!!
