Happy Anniversary

August 24, 2006. To most people this is only a day somewhere in their past, another box to be crossed off on a calender. More than likely nothing spectacular happened, just another day at work, at home, at wherever they were, nothing to really be remembered. For Andrea & I this day holds quite a different value . On August 24, 2006, we made our relationship official: we decided to give “US” a chance for the long term. So this date marks our beginning, and the 24th day of each month we celebrate our anniversary. Some people might think that’s silly, but if every month has been as good as ours together why wouldn’t we want to celebrate? It just so happens that 12 months of this celebrating passed and August 24, 2007 was just around the corner. Yes I know, one whole year together already! To make sure this occasion was indeed special we made plans to have a romantic dinner date together. We decided to go to a new restaurant in town called Mythos, a Euro-Greek establishment that neither of us had ever been to but which looked like a very nice place to go. I even broke out the shirt & tie for this date, so you know I thought it was special! Andrea looked stunning as well in a new dress she bought just for our occasion. Though it was raining this anniversary evening it didn’t dampen our spirits at all: actually, the rain added a romantic feel to the event. And the restaurant was perfect for us. They had soothing music pleasantly playing in the background. The restaurant was designed for a smaller crowd so the tables were spaced further apart for a more private and cozy experience. The servers were attentive and more than eager to make the whole evening enjoyable. And the food.....Delicioso! Andrea had a Greek version of chicken alfredo that was creamier and tastier than it’s Italian counter part while I tried a Mustard Chicken with rice dinner that was incredible! I even tried some gyro meat which was amazing (my mouth just waters remembering it). Andrea tried some too but was not as impressed (but hey, she gets an A for trying something new!). Being there with Andrea was what really made the evening memorable though. To spend a year with someone takes real commitment & dedication and we have both. A lot had happened during our first year and there we were, still hanging in this together. I know this might be jumping ahead of myself, but I’m thinking this is only the first anniversary in a long and beautiful relationship, so I have a reservation at Mythos for August 24, 2008 all ready and waiting for us.
