Upper left - train tickets to Koala Lumpur and the photos were both taken from the 35th floor of the hotel.

Here is the journaling:

Saturday, November 14th – We docked in Port Kelang, Malaysia. It is also shown on maps as Kleng, Keleng, or Kelleng. The shore excursion – which was a bus ride into Kuala Lumpur for $59.00 a person wasn't very exciting to us – after the long trip into Luxor we weren't thrilled about sitting on a bus for 1 hour and 45 minutes each way to Kuala Lumpur (or the price!). Bill had been there before and it was not a favorite city – not worth the bus ride and the money to get there.

We got off the ship, planning to just walk around the port city and found there was a convenience store. That's it. How do you spend 7 hours in a convenience store?

Then the wheels in Bill's brain started turning. Another couple also wanted to do something so we got a cab for $12.00 ($3.00 each) for us to get to the train station. Then for another $9.00 each we got a round trip train ticket to Kuola Lampur (only 40 minutes by train.) So we beat the people on the ship to Kuala Lumpur and only paid $12.00 each so far.

Once we got off the train in Kuala Lumpur (we were amazed at how modern and clean the city was) we walked across the street to the Hilton and took the elevator to the 35th floor (top floor) and enjoyed spectacular views of Kuala Lampur. We also marveled at the gorgeous pool deck on the 8th floor with the waterfalls between the pool and the hotel. One of the prettiest pool areas I have ever seen!

Next Bill shelled out $6.00 ($3.00 each) for a monorail pass for the entire day so we could get off and back on when we wherever we wanted! It was nice and clean and modern and gave us personal and close up views of Kuala Lampur from high up. Awesome! Of special interest were the twin towers – the tallest twin towers in the world!

We got off the monoral at a big mall to find the food court. We settled on a Burger King Whopper each along with a Coke. Then I had to have a hot Krispy Kreme donut, which we shared. (Okay, Bill had one bite of it.) Then a run through the mall on a quest for a Malaysia t-shirt.

Back on the monorail to the train station in Kuala Lumpur, to the train station in Port Kelang, where we met up with another couple waiting for a cab who wanted to share the cost with us. Another $3.00 each for our share of the cab. We got from Kuala Lumpur to Port Kelang in less than an hour while our cruise ship friends were still sitting on a bus.

Their cost - $118.00 per couple ($59.00 each). 3 ½ hours on a bus.
Our cost - $30.00 ($15.00 each). Less than 2 hours in transit.
