page one of two. Journalling reads: I hope it doesn't sound selfish, but I have secret wishes that you will like certain things enough to pursue when you get older, like music, art and travel, for starters. I want you to like these things because I like them. Maybe, if that happens, we can have an activity that is special for just the 2 of us, that we do together. I don't share this with my parents, but I do with your dad, Ron. We don't like to do everything the other does, but the desire to create we have in common unites us in another way, and strengthens our bond. I hope you and I remain close in heart and spirit as you grow older. I was so excited when I discovered you enjoyed coloring with crayons. I bought them when you were pretty young in anticipation of the day when you would be able to use them. About 3 weeks ago, I opened the box of crayons and laid on the floor with a pad of paper. I started to color as you were paying. When you noticed what I was doing, you left your toys behind, and sat across from me on the floor. Then, you picked up the yellow crayon, and said, "yellow". Next, you picked up the orange crayon , and said, "orange". After that, you started to rub the crayon back and forth on the paper, jabbering away. My heart just about burst with happiness.
