Ok, I am in LOVE with Bruce. When I recently visited my brother's home in Montana, he had 10 chickens, and I had no idea how gorgeous they could be--Bruce rivals them, as of course he should :) great LO and LOVE the feather!
What a great page! Every element on here is just right. Our horse trainer has a rooster who has it out for me, every time I'm around her barn he stalks me making threatening noises. Just me, nobody else!
Again your rooster is SOOOOoooooOOOOO F*U*N*N*Y!!!!! Your LO is perfect...the feather and embellies at the bottom are my fave thing on here...very cool!
This is just so precious! I love the chicken wire paper and the use of the feather. Bruce would be glad that his plucking wasn't in vain! LOL! Such a cute story too!
Everyone should have a Bruce in their life... your lo does a wonderful job of showcasing him: great rooster pp and all the others that work so well. Absolutely love the feather . the whole grouping actually.
I ABSLOUTELY LOVE this lo! Recently my son raised Chickens for FFA this year and of course the majority of our group were ROOSTERS. Then today, Papa got flogged by one of their roosters trying to get out of the pen this morning. Looks like he's been in a bar fight. I love the colors and the papers and everything about this lo... thanks for sharing! Also, thanks for the beautiful comment regarding my deer lo!
I really enjoyed your story..you're funny. LOVE this layout..that chicken pp is beautiful really, as is the whole layout...great colors and layering and I love the title and Bruce's tail feather in there.
What a great story! Love the addition of the feather (although I'm sure Bruce isn't too happy about it). Love all the distressing and vintage feel. Cool black flowers! Great job with layering and those pp's are awesome!
I love the chicken wire masking and the rooster pp! Great earthy colors on this - and of course, the feather is a great touch and a perfect keepsake! I have a stash of my bird's feathers to use too, but I haven't done so in awhile. Might need to dig those out :)
internet scream!!!!! This is amazing. Love the photo to pieces. Love the Cosmo Cricket papers and your cluster at the bottom complete with the feather. so inspiring and sooooo rustic. LOVE this - fav - though is this the LAST photo of Bruce????? Has his cockadoodle doo attitude turned into a cockadoodle don't? ohhhhh boy.
OMG... totally hysterical! I enjoyed reading this because my bf and his brother (when he was living there last year) decided they wanted chickens. One of my friend's son went to an auction to buy a rooster for her chicken and ended up buying 3 roosters for the price he thought he was paying for one... lol. So I got my bf and his brother a rooster for free, and boy does he rule the roost. He maybe 1/2 the size of the 8 hens, but he lays down the law, and let's them know what he wants when he wants it. This lo is adorable! I love it. Great use of the feather, design and cool pp. too. TFS. Cin
VERY cool page! LOVE all the distress work, the way u used one of Bruce's tail feathers on the page, creative title, and the story behind it is so funny!! You should add that in some hidden journaling!
Bruce looks like he is strutting his stuff. LOVE the rooster paper in the bg and what a special touch to add one of bruce's feathers to the Lo-fantasic job!
LOL! what a story! We had geese when I was a kid and I remember my mom whacking this one mean old gander with a cardboard box when he tried to attack her on her way out to feed them. The pps are perfect, as is the chicken wire masking; love the feather accent!
Bruce is quite the rooster. I love your description of the guy. This LO is stunning. The distressing is wonderful are so is your pp choice. I love the chicken wire and the feather is a great touch. I am excited to see how this changes as it makes it way to me.
Oh Pat, you are the Queen of hysterical stories on this one! I laughed so hard it hurts! I do believe this is the 1st layout using chicken wire that actually includes a chicken! Bruce is so crafty it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see his layout of you called That Biddy...Absolutely a fave!
Pat you seriously crack me up with your stories! You have such a wonderful way with words, you must be a fabulous teacher! Now onto the page-this is so fantastic! I love the subject and that photograph is fabulous! Those flowers and feathers are gorgeous and I love the distressing-just an all-around great page and can't wait to lift it!
WOW!!!! Can you use RUSTIC and GORGEOUS in the same sentence???? Bruce is one BEAUTIFUL rooster (seems a bit head strong - but BEAUTIFUL all the same.) Your story was very entertaining - thanks for the giggles. BUT your lo is pure genius - LOVE IT ALL!!!
Oh WOW, this is a real hoot!! Love love love Bruce! I've met a few like him, and I have to applaud their audacity. Love the chicken wire mask and the rest of the fabulous layering!
wOW That is such a funny story...LOL...I wish i lived on a farm i just wouldnt want to wake up to cock a dooodle do in morn...lol Great Layout and how you use his feather lol...
This month the Dark Side Challenge was to scrap your pet's dark side. I usually default to Cowboy the Farm Dawg or Java the Princess Mare to scrap my pets, but Bruce has recently decided he is devil spawn and it's debatable whether or not he's going to be the rooster or be the dinner. He's is just getting a little too big for his drumsticks, if you get my drift.
He's gotten it into his head that HE is the head rooster on my farm, and the other day he made an attempt to flog me as I was feeding the hens. Luckily, I had an empty feed sack in my hand and managed to smack him a wallop up side of his head, so he decided pretty quick that he didn't really want any part of me, but I doubt the lesson will stick for long. He IS, after all, BIRDbrained. Beautiful, but birdbrained.
I don't really BLAME him. He's just being a rooster and doing his job, which is protector and defender of all things chicken, and he's great at it. In fact, he took on the resident hawk the other day - literally flew UP to meet him in the air, wings flapping and spurs flashing. It was pretty impressive and the hawk decided that maybe he'd hunt elsewhere. I haven't lost a bird since I got Bruce. So, I figure he's safe from the stew pot for a while. He's probably too tough to eat anyway.
The other day, Tom and I were getting ready to leave for the evening. It wasn't QUITE dark, but the hens had all decided to roost for the evening. They are good girls and usually go to bed early. But Bruce hadn't made up his mind yet - he likes to stay up late and sleep in the next morning - so I went out to encourage him to go that direction. It was all he needed to give me a lesson in "who's head rooster on this farm." The two of us played a game of ring-around-the-hay-feeder until he made a mad dash under it just as I caught him by the tail feathers. I pulled out two - ONLY two, he has plenty to spare. I hated to see them go to waste so I used one of them on this layout.
Challenges : Week 1 Round Robin Dark Side Scrap Your Pet
Most of the papers are old discontinued Cosmo Cricket's Wanted Collection. The chicken paper is PaperStudio from Hobby Lobby and was in a paper pack called Countryside Villa. I used a little bit of my Dusty Attic chicken wire chipboard. I'm just about out of it, so I hope my Swirlydoos special order gets in before the last of it's gone! The Kaisercraft flourish chips are stained with ink, then have a homemade gold mist spray and some metallic rub on them to give them an aged "old gold" look. The roses have been in my stash for a while and are the last two black ones I have - I think they're Prima. I blinged them up a bit with my Sakura GellyRoll clear star pen. The title letters are from an old Swirlydoos kit - I was glad there were enough letters left from it to get a title. They're about gone too. I stamped the second font with one of my mini-alphabet stamp sets that I got in the $1 bin at Michaels.
