I have heard about this show and always wished we lived closer. I'd love it! Great papers and photos. This is a great way to remember a fun experience.
Wow you really give us a great background story. I agree that patterned papers can be hard to work with, love your buffalo. I really like to old turquoise colors with your photos.
One of our couple friends called us and asked if we'd like to go to the Pawnee Bill Wild West show. It's only performed one weekend out of the year, and as luck would have it, we all happened to be free, so of course we said yes.
It's not a long drive from our house - a little over an hour - but we should have gotten there a lot earlier than we did. The show started at 7:30, but we got there with only an hour to spare, so we didn't get to spend nearly as much time in the museum as we would have liked, and we had to hurry through dinner, which was served on the grounds, as well.
But overall, we had a really fun time. It was a surprise, actually, how much fun we had. There were stagecoach races, trick shooting, and drill team performances.
The trick roper was fantastic. Everyone was talking about him and how long he must have practiced to be able to twirl the rope like that. I mentioned that his horse was pretty incredible as well. The animal never moved a muscle, in spite of the swnging ropes, cracking bullwhips, and children running all over everywhere, including into him. My friend Danielle asked me what it took to get him to stand still like that. I had to say, "well, he's been taught that whoa means do not move your feet or something really bad will happen..."
I have to say, I was inspired by the incredible horsemanship of the riders I saw, but I have no desire to "go fast." Puttering down the trail is plenty of excitement for me and my pony.
Sometimes a good sketch and great papers are all you need to create a nice layout. I didn't do a lot of fuss and bother with this one. The patterned papers were kind of tricky to work with, and I wanted to keep that buffalo and native hunter as the focus. Too much more and I'm afraid it would have gotten really cluttered. I hunted down the Quick Quotes sentiment from an old 2011 products catalog, cut it out, and inked it up. Sometimes you can find inspiration in the most out of the way places...

This is done with Sketch #3 of the One Page Sketch Challenge for June.
Also for the Hoarders Challenge. This is old, old, OLD Cosmo Cricket ... are they still in business? ... and some Fabscraps paper as well.
