That is a great list. My favorite is “done is better than perfect”. Don’t we all need a little of this. And this touching LO is a wonderful inspiration for these “things to remember”!
It is truly amazing how dogs are so in tune with us. Beautiful page and I wish you the best of luck on your relaxation journey! Loved the journaling in your description.
oh, this is delightful, and the journaling is so sweet. I wish you luck; it's not an easy goal to have. I think you should pin this page up somewhere where you can look at it every day to remind yourself to slow down, even if it's just a little bit. I totally understand though.
Sounds like you have some admirable goals for 2018 and I wish you all the luck in achieving them. You also have a pretty special pooch there - what a lovely companion. Adorable layout - I love the cluster of embellishments at the top!
Awwww taking care of mom...hoping your feeling better! Take a lesson from pup!---and you will achieve those goals!!!! No really, I can relate and I know its hard!!!
BEAUTIFULLY done. To me the butterfly symbolizes a quiet, gentle world - love that you used it in the cluster of embellies. The muted colors (well, the entire lo) evokes a feeling of peace and tranquility. We should all take heart and remember that we only get one shot at this life, we MUST take time for what we love. Thanks for the inspiration.
This is a wonderful layout. I hope you do learn to relax more. Most people need to take more time to do nothing. Im pretty good at that stuff...Im kinda lazy, I think. Im learning that from my husband...lol. :o)Ro
This is beautiful! I am one of those that does not know how to say no, but the older I get, the more I realize I need to relax more. I do take time to enjoy the little tings in life. I think I will print your goal as a remainder that life is getting g shorter. Hope you are feeling better.
I love all of the different elements here. And I have that paper pack too!! I think it was K and Company?? From at least 10 years ago?? Lol. I love the splatters around the photo, and the butterfly in the center. Butterflies go well with your "Relax" theme. Lots of goodness in this LO to enjoy!
Great goal Pat! I think we all need that one. Great combination of challenges as well. Love the use of the washi here, Very creative. Your antiquing with the ink is amazing. There are just so many things to look at. I keep going back and looking at something different. The punched black is so perfect for this. Your styling of a page is amazing. I wish I could do more like this. Inspirational!
This is so cute and pretty all at the same time! Pups are so intuitive and I love your description of the lo. I also have OCD and I was able to change the way I think and dictate things - not as much as I like but it's a work in progress. I wish you luck with your goals. I'm sure you know the first step is acknowledging the issue and trying to figure out just how to make the changes. Hugs to you on your journey!
Very nice LO!! I love Beagles!!, my last dog was a beagle and I miss him a lot. Love the elements on here. Good luck with your goal- remember.....life is short.
Fantastic LO. I always love to read your descriptions. Your goal to RELAX more is a good one. Print your list out in BIG BOLD letters and put it where you will see it first thing each morning. Take a moment to read it each day. (Maybe you'll also want to put a second sheet with your list in another room you're in a lot.) Good Luck and RELAX ... take time to smell the roses!
Beautiful, love all your embellishments... Love all your journaling. You simply write so beautifully. Like you I have a hard time saying no if I don't want to do something without feeling guilty. I also strive to be a prefectionist in whatever I do. Your journaling gave me something to really think about and I truly thank-you for that. Awesome Layout!!!
I think the first word I learned to use as I got older was NO. I think your reflective layout is a great way to start practicing that word!! Hang it high where you can see if every day!! :) Not only is it beautiful, it is the perfect reminder that the roses are really beautiful if we just take the time to look!! Absolutely fabulous layout! Love everything!!!
Definition : noun, Informal. 1. a carefree, comfortable, and thoroughly enjoyable way of living:
This afternoon, Riley climbed up onto the couch with me. I think he realized that I was not my best self - I've been down with an old back injury all day. He just curled up around me, put his head in my lap, and went to sleep. It was comforting, and it made me think... you know, birds of the air, lilies of the field, adding one inch to my height ... that sort of thing.
I'm horribly OCD and I have a tendency to take control of things that I really don't need - and most times don't even want - to. I'm compulsively early to everything. I can't stand to be late and when I feel like I'm going to BE late, I get horribly upset, sometimes to the point of making myself sick ... I say yes when I really want to say no. I volunteer to help out and frequently double book myself into impossible deadlines just because I have this compulsive need to be helpful. I'm horrible at delegating, and when I'm in a group, I have a natural tendency to just take charge of the leadership of it. I'm goal oriented, and leaving a project unfinished is just not something I'm capable of doing. Add that all up with my perfectionist tendencies - well, it's just a recipe for stress overload, even in a life that centers around being retired. I mean, there's only so many times you can clean out and reorganize the closets, right? After less than a year, I went back to work part time, just because a life of living idle isn't part of my busy nature.
You'd think with three heart surgeries in the last year, that I'd have made the connection - that stress is BAD for me. That I should just slow down and enjoy the scenery. Well, let's just say I'm a slow learner.
Today, my old dog showed me something really important - that you can't smell the roses when you're speeding down the highway. And if you're moving as fast as I do, you can't even SEE the roses. And you know what? I'm tired of missing the view.
So for 2018, I'm going to take a page from my dog's book of life philosophy, slow down, and learn to just be more chill. Or at least I'm going to give it my best OCD effort.
