You have a beautiful bedroom! I love how the wood look of your paneling is used on the LO. The geometric design reminds me of a quilt, which reminds me of a bedroom. Nicely done!
I could have sworn that I commented on this last month, but maybe it was one of the tabs that was open the time the power went out. Anyway, that was quite a comedy of errors and I admire you having the guts to scrap about it. Not sure I could have done it!!
I can't believe this was an ugly paper challenge, because the minute I saw your page I said to myself how much I loved the papers!! To each his own, I suppose. I'm so glad you are now satisfied with your carpet. I bet you will never use those same installers again!
Sounds like a real nightmare. I have a similar story about floor tiles (UGH). GREAT lo and great use of "the uglies". love the layers and the use of the journaling card.
This is really done well! The wood grain boarder at the top looks great! I'm glad that they finally got it done right and you can now enjoy what you waited so patiently for all those years!!
Love how you cut those papers down to size! Beautiful LO!
Sorry to hear about your carpet ordeal though, it is very similar to what happened to our bestest "couple friends." Except they were having windows installed, and that was done VERY poorly...and the guy tried lying and saying "it's right!" ... and then my DH got involved on their behalf. My DH who happens to have been born with a hammer in his hand. Their windows got fixed and they got a discount for all the trouble! (And the original worker apparently had to find a new job after that.)
Your lo has such a comforting homey feel! Wow though, I can't believe you went through all of that ridiculousness! LOL at the Keystone cops comment! I totally love how you worked with that journaling card - super fun and smart idea!
Oh my, the trials and tribulation of re-modeling. I'm so sorry for the trouble you had and that it took so long. Luckily, the wait was worth it. You have a beautiful bedroom now and got a great layout out of it. The geometric patterned paper is wonderful on this. You are so creative and make lovely pages. I'm in awe.
Nothing like a simple carpet installation to take 4 months to get done right. You would have thought these guys were all new on the job. Geez! But at least it is finally done and everything looks beautiful. I love seeing the different parts of your home as we get to know each more and more...it really mixes right in with your personality and I am sure it also reflects your hubby as well. Your bedroom looks like a comfy bed and breakfast cabin. I think for what you had to work with (those uglies) was very challenging and you nailed it! You rock girl! fave
This is very cool Pat. I love the story - sounds like something that would happen to me. Great use of the uglies and I so love those little calendars. Where do you get them from? Your bedroom does look lovely and it is so big. How lovely are the colours of the room? The papers match so well. Don't you just love fussy cutting?
Great layout and great journaling! I love the way you preserve the story of the carpet although I am sorry that it was such an ordeal to have it installed correctly. Glad you finally got it fixed.
Last November, I had new carpeting installed. We bought the house 18 years ago, put it on a 15 year note so that we could have it paid off while we were still relatively young and able to enjoy it. It's needed new carpeting since we bought it, but we sacrificed with a huge house payment, knowing that SOMEday, we'd be able to really create the home of our dreams.
So once we burned the note, I immediately remodeled the master bathroom, then did the kitchen and utility room, and by November, it was time to put new flooring down across the entire house. I was assured that the installers would do a good job and that the seams would not show.
Not only DID the seam in the great room show, it was nothing but glue all along the top of it. It took from November to February to get it fixed, and involved a home visit from five regional managers to look at the job and agree that "no, you're NOT being unreasonable... that's a terrible installation job!" Duh.
So, the company agreed to relay the great room - where the seam ran right down the middle of the room, between my sofas, and was obvious to anyone walking in the front door. Early February, that got done. And the installation was great - except....
Well, I guess nobody went back and looked at the original measurements specs because where the original installation met the new, that seam was now HIGHLY visible because the carpets were not cut the same direction and the naps didn't match. It was like the carpets were two entirely different colors. So, I made ANOTHER phone call to the company, and when I told the girl who was responsible for my account what had happened, she said, "oooohhhhhhh.... that's bad." Yeah, DUH.
So they fussed and discussed and finally decided that they would relay the MASTER BEDROOM. And finally, March 8, this job was DONE and done RIGHT. And it's absolutely beautiful and we totally love it.
But it was sure like Keystone Cops there for a while...

Challenge Stack 1. Ugly Papers ~ mine came from Deanna this month. I've grouped them with this layout so you can see them and get an idea of what I had to work with. They weren't horrible, but they did give me a bit of a brain twist trying to figure out how to make them work together. I really wanted to feature the flower paper, but there just was no way that was going to work. Once I let the papers do what they WANTED to do, it wasn't all that hard to create. I'm not REALLY happy with the loopy leftover between the "good day" but the rest of the words there just didn't fit, and it's not all that big a deal, I don't think.
2. Journaling Challenge - I got my third one of these done with that cute little journaling card. It originally said, "weekly details" but that just wasn't going to work for this story, so I used my label maker and did a little editing on it.
3. Monthly Sketch Challenge - Sketch #2.
4. Artistic Ingredient - this is my second entry for that challenge.
