A beautiful LO for an even more beautiful story. Your husband sounds like a true blessing to the whole family. Your love and appreciation for him and his mother comes shining through in this LO.
So beautiful, Pat. The photo says a lot, and your telling of it says even more. It is a wonderful thing to see a child (old or young) have that much love and respect for their parent(s). It is a truly admirable character trait that I wish more people had. Your DH is an amazing man.
This story behind the page made me tear up a bit and get that apple in my throat. It is an amazing thing to be able to say that you love your mother in law. I don't think many of us can say the same. It is so nice of both of you to visit her and spend that real quality time with her, even though she won't remember it. This page has so much beauty to it, even the kind you can't see but know it is there. Fabulous scrappy job girl! I love these colors and how it turned out. :)
I really love your story telling on this! It brought me back to when my maternal grandmother was still with us. Her memory faded very slowly and she had the same short term memory loop. Very sweet page, I'm sure Tom loves it!
Pat I teared up reading your story telling because my mom died when she was just 61 years old and the Shel Silverstein quote is beautiful. Shel Silverstein brings back memories of when I had just had son Adam and Victor and I read the poem"Someone Ate the Baby" and we both couldn't stop laughing. To this day Victor is a funny jokester guy and that couldn't make me happier.
Wow Pat, I love your story. Your husband is wonderful and you are equally as wonderful for understanding - seems like you two were meant for each other. :) That pic really says a lot and the poem is just perfect. I love this - I love this a lot.
I'm sure your son is feeling being really blessed for the relationship with his mom, and continuing as life goes on. May God bless your husband & you for caring!
Such a beautiful story and layout! Love your heartfelt journaling and how your photo depicts the bond between mother and son which never ends no matter the circumstances or age. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my gosh - this is so sweet, beautiful and heartwarming all rolled into a fantastic lo (and completes a bunch of challenges too). You are amazing. I love the photo and your sweet description. To me the cascading sequins/gems symbolize your visits as a bright spot in your MIL's life and the butterfly calls to mind that life is short and ever changing. TFS.
I can't believe these are all leftovers! Such a beautiful tribute for such a special bond. The colours are gloriously rich and the use of the little calendars is just perfect! Love the punch work here and the distressing is beautiful. I keep flicking back up to look at all the details. This is truly a remarkable page and to think it is all leftovers pulled together. Stunning and very inspirtational
Every weekend, my husband drives to Tulsa to visit his mother, who is living in a memory care unit there. I don't go with him every time, but i do try to go at least once every third week or so, and sometimes I'm even the one to suggest a visit - like I did last Friday.
We always take Mom out to eat somewhere, mostly just to get her outside the walls and interacting with the wider world. Goldies is one of our favorite places. It's been voted Tulsa's best hamburger multiple years running, and we have niece that works there, so Mom gets a double bonus of seeing family - even if she doesn't remember them.
She's always cheerful, always asking what our plans for the rest of the day are, asking where we live ... she's not faking it, she's genuinely interested and wants to have a conversation. It's just limiting because she's got about a two minute memory loop and that means that the conversations can't really GO anywhere.
But family is all about taking care of each other - even when it's hard, and even when they can't remember who you are. And the truth is, I lucked out when I married this man because for the past 30 years, this woman has been my mother-in-law, and she's been wonderful to me and I absolutely adore her.
She was always a little partial to Tom - I'm not sure just why because that's history that I won't ever understand or be a part of. Their story goes back a whole lot farther than his and mine does, and I don't mind sharing him with her at all. After all, she's the one who raised him, and she's the one who taught him how to be the man that he is. I'm so very very lucky.

Challenge Stack 1. Left Overs - everything you see here is a leftover piece from some other project. The two cardstock frames - I kind of lucked out with those... both were cut and discarded in favor of something else. I'll be sharing the technique for how I did it in the APRIL Leftovers Challenge next month.
2. Monthly Sketch Challenge #3 - Honest. I swear it.
3. Journaling Challenge - This one finishes me up for this challenge with the Journaling Strips category.
4. Foodie - Tom and Mom are walking into Goldies Hamburgers, where we had a fantastic meal of burgers and cold slaw... Always delicious, Goldies is.
