Heading out as an anniversary card.

At this time last year, I attended the all day card makers event in which five Stampin' Up! leading demonstrators got together and had online demonstrations and classes with lots of tips and techniques (I am a hobby demo with Stampin' UP!, I don't sell). The FB platform didn't cooperate much, with lots of technical difficulties, but the attendees had plenty of fun and lots of ideas flowed freely.

Last year, Melissa Kerman gave a presentation during the event called "Vintage Effects." She showed how to create a nature scene with lots of embossing, resists, stamping, ink techniques, etc. I did fall in love with it. I vowed to CASE the card she made, and even though the card she created for us online ended up in my mailbox later as a Thank You card, it took me a full year to get into gear and CASE and make the card myself.

My clear emboss resist over the trees eventually melted into the watercolor paper with all the extra embossing and doesn't sparkle like it should because I overheated, but the card is still beautiful. For the most part, the resist held up through "background" stamping, ink smooshing, and some gold heat embossing, too. I also "aged" the edges of the focal piece a little with a little distressing with a scissor blade edge.

SU! supplies: Welcoming Woods, Very Versailles, Love and Happiness, and Gorgeous Leaves stamp sets (all retired); Seasonal Labels and Stitched Rectangles die sets; Sahara Sand, Mossy Meadow, and Gold and Rose Gold cardstocks and specialty paper; Timeworn Type embossing folder; Sahara Sand, Mossy Meadow, and Soft Suede inks.

Other: Strathmore hot press watercolor paper.
