This layout is for my weightloss scrapbook, but also for the Imperfect Lives June Challenge. The topic for the challenge is 'Against All Odds' - and this is about me trying to help someone ELSE overcome all odds. :)
As per the challenge, I have used 3 different patterned papers, 1 overlay, 3 mini safety pins and done some journalling.
The journalling is a bit tricky to read on here, so it says: 'I first heard about egg donations in 2001 from an advertisement in a baby magazine. The idea definitely caught my attention, but I had a new baby to think about and it was soon forgotten about. In 2006, after the birth of my daughter Caitlin, something reminded me about egg donation, so I Googled it to find some more information. I ended up exchanging emails with a nurse at a clinic that deals with IVF. I had several questions which she answered, such as how high the demand for egg donors is (as I was not responding to a specific advertisement or request). She assured me that there is always a high demand for donors and she explained teh whole process in some detail for me. I was determined to do this, so I spoke to Steve about it and he gave me his full support. So I rang the nurse and she went through the initial questionnaire with me. Was I between the ages of 21-37? Yes. Was I in good health? Yes. Did I have children of my own? Yes. Had I completed my own family? Yes. Any fertility problems? No. And was my body mass index lower than 30? No. That last question meant I couldn't donate until I'd lost about 20kg (44lb).
This is something I really want to do. It's my chance to do something real, something completely unselfish for someone else. It's my chance to give someone else a chance to experience the miracle of motherhood that I was lucky enough to experience. So many people have helped Steve and I over the years, now it's my turn to 'pay it forward'. 20kg is a lot of weight, especially for someone who has always had trouble dieting. But I've lost 5kg (11lb) so far and I'm determined to keep going and get my BMI under 30. I WILL do this. Someone out there is counting on me to help make their dream come true.
June 2007'
The three tags at the bottom of the page will show my beginning, middle and final BMI with the dates I acheived them. I have filled in the first one, but will fill in the middle and the final ones when I have completed the whole weight loss.
