I'm sitting here at my scrapbook table, working on a layout and I get a glimpse of movement out of the corner of my eye. I look outside, and there's one of my deer, walking right past my window, moving toward the front yard.

I get up to get a closer look, and it turns out the entire group of four are out in the front yard, checking out what is left in the garden (nothing - it's all harvested except the herbs). They're getting pretty bold coming this close to the house. I'm fairly sure than come hunting season, at least two will get taken by a hunter. They're just barely afraid of people, and that's not smart for a deer in this part of the world. They're beautiful to look at, but they're not much more than meat on the hoof to a lot of people.

I hope this doe has enough sense to keep these little ones in a safe spot - like my back 20 acres - for the duration of the season. But it looks like she's headed to a dinner table herself if she doesn't get some more sense into her head.
