I posted this photo a few days ago, and at the time, I wasn't really planning on doing anything with it. But the weekly challenge for the Anything Goes Challenge is about resolutions, and this one just seems to fit my mind set for 2018.

A few days ago, I was down with a back injury and was recuperating on my sofa with some high dose pain meds and muscle relaxers. I was kind of foggy, and Riley seemed to understand that I wasn't myself. He crawled up in my lap, heaved a big sigh, put his head down, and went to sleep. We spent most of the afternoon together, and it really got me thinking about my mental lifestyle.

I'm a diagnosed ADHD adult - always on the go, with a mind that just will not turn itself off. I don't sleep much. I'm extremely goal driven. I have definite OCD issues that revolve around my need to take charge of situations - even when i know I don't want to. I'm pretty relentless in the pursuit of getting things done - and I'm compulsively early for everything. I make to-do lists of more things than ANYbody can get done in a day, much less a week. I overbook my schedule.

But that afternoon with my dog gave me something that i've been missing, and i'm resolved to make 2018 the year that i turn my OCD toward a new goal. LEARN TO RELAX.

The journaling tag is my list of things to remember to help me do that.
1. Let go of my need to control everything.
2. Say no without guilt.
3. Done is better than perfect.
4. Take time for me.
5. Relax!

We'll see if it works. I kind of doubt it - I mean, I'm 60 years old and I've had a lifetime to hone my OCD skills. But I'm pretty sure that if I set my mind to it, i can learn how to relax.

You can't smell the roses if you're speeding down life's highway. In fact, at the speed I live, I can't even SEE them! I'm going to learn to live in the moment. And I'm looking forward to it.

Wish me luck!
