I've been holding onto this little rocking horse for a long LONG time. I got it for my elder daughter's first Christmas, and she's getting ready to celebrate her 40th birthday next month.

Somewhere along the way, he lost his pipe cleaner tail and mane, broke off an ear and chipped some of the paint off his rocker. But I just couldn't bear to part with him because I had such a sentimental attachment to him. So he just kept getting hung on the tree and then not hung but still stored in the ornament box, reminding me every Dec 1 that he was still around and would he ever have a job to do for me again?

This year I finally figured out what to do with him, with the help of my good friend Cheryl (CMomGo). I went out and cut off some of Java's tail (she's got plenty to spare) and gave him a new hairdo with REAL horse hair. I glued his ear back on and inked over his chipped paint areas.

And then I made up a tag, special, just for him so he can celebrate Christmas with me again.

Eventually, he'll end up with elder daughter - but not until he and I don't need each other anymore.
